about Nneka

A native of Nigeria in West Africa, from 1995-1997 Nneka was a familiar voice and face in Lagos’ top night spots and hotels, leading jazz, rock&roll, R&B and African “highlife” bands. A former model, she has graced the cover of Nigeria’s Dressence and Hint magazines and was co-hostess of “Beat Wave” Music Show on the Edo State Broadcasting System in Benin City. In 1997 Nneka was nominated Nigeria’s most promising female vocalist.

Since arriving in the United States in November, 1997, Nneka has led bands in shows at some of the Atlanta area’s top hotels, night spots and universities including The Atrium in Stone Mountain and the Freight Room in Decatur, the Coconut Club and Hyatt Regency, and Morehouse College and Emory University. She also spent over a year as featured female vocalist with Golden Touch, an Atlanta-based variety/Motown revue group and toured extensively throughout the eastern and southeastern U.S. from New York to New Orleans.

Nneka has just completed her first album for Pookshah Records in Atlanta. A mixture of R&B, jazz, hip hop, pop and African highlife, the album is scheduled for release in the spring of 2000.
